We have applied to the Gardai for permission to set up street collections on Henry Street and Grafton Street for June and July and are in the final stage before we get approval- so it’s looking good.

We plan to start our collection on June 19 th and from then every Saturday in June and July .  To help us out, even if just for an hour or so, get in touch with one of the lads, email us or leave a message on Facebook.  Again, any help you can give would be very much appreciated.

Heroes in Hiding Gig

We had a great turnout last night ( Tuesday 20 th April ) at Crawdaddy on Harcourt Street for our music gig with Heroes In Hiding headlining and Shouting at Planes supporting.  Both bands gave enthusiastic performances to the delight of the audience, singing a mixture of original songs and covers.  With a fantastic atmosphere and top class music the night was a complete success.  A great night’s entertainment!  A total of €600 was raised on the night.  Thanks to all those who attended and to both bands, definitely stars in the making!

A Special Thanks to guys in Wheelworx

We took a spin over to Triathlon and Cycle specialists Wheelworks new shop in Fonthill Retail Park , just next to Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, Dublin after a fundraising-packed weekend in St Stephens Green.

Have to say we were massively impressed with the new shop which has everything a cyclist could ever dream off (yes even you Lance)- all top of the range gear, we were just salivating looking at it all!

We got great advice from the lads in the shop and in particular Mark Lacey (special shout out) helped us with selecting essential equipment from everything to top quality pedals to socks and a comfortable saddle for the trip.

In fact we were so impressed by young Lacey that William decided to stalk him for his autograph!!

We (Mark and William) had entered into the Alive Outside Duathlon race in Phoenix Park on Sunday 28th March and found ourselves standing next to Mr Mark Lacey and the Wheelworx crew at the starting line, of course that didn’t last very long- soon all we saw of him was the dust he left in his wake! But we persevered never the less, and finished in very respectable times of 46 minutes (William) and 47 minutes (Mark) respecitvely.

If you too want to stalk Mark Lacey check out the website (http://www.wheelworxbikes.com/ ) or head over to the shop, you might even have a look at the bikes while your there!

Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre Collection

After a great night out in Cullen’s on Friday night we managed to drag ourselves out of the beds on Saturday 27 March and into St Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre for 9am to start our collection.  We were in the shopping centre for about 6 hours and we raised just over €450.  We even got a mention on 98fm!  Thanks to all those who contributed and also to St. Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre for letting us collect!

Our next fundraising event will be another collection, this time in the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre on Saturday April 10 – if you’re in the area and would like to help out, even if it’s just for an hour or so we’d really appreciate it, just call, email or leave us a message on facebook.

William’s Head Shave & Chest Wax

cycle usa

Great craic was had by all who attended the Chest Wax and Head Shave night for the Irish Cancer Society on evening of Friday 26 at Cullen’s Pub in Ballsbridge .  Huge numbers turned up to see AIB’s William shave his head and JP Galvin and Jimmy wFlavin wax their chests.

The night kicked off with the chest wax at 6.30pm with Jimmy bravely volunteering to go first.  One hour and several alcoholic beverages later Jimmy emerged a new man with his previously very, very hairy chest gone and was replaced by new smooth chested Jimmy!    JP was next and thankfully for Dolores, who had just had an impressive upper arm workout with tearing the wax strips from the forest of hair growing on Jimmy’s chest, she didn’t have as much to do.  With only a few yelps of pain JP was soon showing off chest as smooth as a baby’s behind to a cheering crowd!!  William followed his example and with great ease Dolores ripped off the hair William had on his chest while Dave Donnelly contributed a remarkable €50 to have the pleasure of waxing William’s tummy hair.

But William’s contribution to the night didn’t end there; he still had to endure a head shave.  After a few false starts, William’s curls were soon adorning the floor of Cullen’s Pub with nothing left on his head but the very fine layer of hair left behind by a number 1 blade.

The drama and excitement of the head shave was following by a night of great fun in Cullen’s.  Overall €900 was raised on the night.  All money raised will go to help cancer care patients.

We would like to thank Cullen’s for providing a fantastic venue, Keith for doing the head shave, Dolores for the waxing and of course all the people who donated on the night.

Pictures to follow later in the week, we’ll post them on facebook so check back soon- definitely worth seeing!!
