We had a fantastic day of collecting on Saturday 27 February in the Pavilion Shopping Centre in Swords. We set up a stationary bike at 9 am and were joined by friends and family who came to help shake a bucket or offer some words of encouragement – we even had a special visit from Scooby-Doo for a while! In the 6 hours that we were collecting, we must have cycled about 120 kilometres on the stationary bike in but it all counts as part of our training!
We raised a phenomenal €1,202. We would very sincerely like to thank the Pavilions shopping centre in Swords (www.pavilions.ie ) for allowing us the use of their premises and we would also like to say a big thank you to everyone who gave a donation on the day, every penny of which will be used to benefit cancer patients. We would also like to thank “Birthday”, the party shop in the shopping centre for filling our balloons with helium free of charge, much appreciated! And not to forget our friends and family who gave up their Saturdays to give us a hand.
Our next collection will take place at Mountjoy Square, Dublin on Saturday 13th March, the day of the Ireland v Wales rugby match. We will be delighted if Irish rugby fans are even half as generous as the guys in the Pavilions.
Also don’t forget that William’s pride and joy- his big curly hair will be nothing but a distant memory on March 26th! As well as enduring a chest wax, this man plans on shaving off his golden locks in Cullen’s Pub in Ballsbridge at 6.30pm Thanks in advance to Cullen’s Pub in Ballsbridge, for allowing us use of the venue. Several other brave souls have also volunteered to have hair ripped from their legs and chest for this good cause, so come along for a bit of craic (and probably a few tears from the volunteers!) All are welcome!
Keep checking our events page on the website and facebook for upcoming events, including Sponsored Runs in the Sheldon Park Leisure Centre and in DCU, a collection in Blanchardstown and in Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre.
